A breakfast board needs no cooking skill, just good ingredients and a big plate. Here is how we put one together for a lazy Sunday.

Start with bread: warm sesame bagels and a few slices of toasted sourdough. Add softened salted butter, a small jar of raw honey and a wedge of mature cheddar. Soft-boil four free-range eggs for six and a half minutes so the yolks stay runny.

Fruit brings colour. Halve some strawberries, slice a kiwi and add a small bunch of red grapes. If you have them, a couple of apricots or plums cut into wedges look lovely too.

Finish with a pot of green tea or a cafetière of freshly ground coffee and a jug of cold-pressed orange juice. Everything on the board is in the shop this week, and most of it is on the 3 for 2 or free-delivery offers.
