Every month we walk the orchards and fields with our growers to see what is coming into its best. Here is what to look for in the shop right now.
Stone fruit is the star. Dark plums and red plums are arriving by the crate, and the apricots from the valley orchard are the sweetest we have tasted in years. Buy a few extra and roast the halves with a drizzle of raw honey for an easy dessert.
Strawberries are finishing. The last pickings are smaller but intensely flavoured, so this is the moment to make jam. Cauliflowers are large and tight-headed, and the first of the cured yellow onions have come out of the barn.
From further afield, lychees and mangosteen are in their short summer window. They sell out most weeks, so if you see them in stock, do not wait.
